I recently worked with a young woman who was despondent and panic-stricken about her fiancee “going too far” at his bachelor party. She was too wounded to imagine marrying him, despite the love and esteem in which she held him, the conviction that he was a trustworthy guy, or the realization that bachelor parties are a predictable formula for exactly this sort of thing. I gave her some “tough love” and some hard hitting advice.

I felt compelled to address this issue both here and in a video I just posted though Traffic Geyser. The issue is this. If you’re in business, are you selling freedom or bondage? Selling bondage means using tactics designed to create some sort of dependency or addiction on the part of your prospects and clients. Continuing our discussion of meditation… The practice of observing your sensations will lead you towards liberation. You should commit yourself to at least twenty minutes per day, simply observing your sensation, noticing when your mind tries to take over the show and draw you into a thought loop. Whenever that happens, simply smile at the current habit pattern of your mind and return your attention to your sensation. Notice how it flows and changes. Watch
Sit comfortably in an upright position with your back straight, arms comfortably in your lap. Keep your eyes and your mouth closed. Take three “cleansing breaths,” forgetting you cares. Commit to using this time for self-inquiry, not thought. Focus on your breath as it enters and leaves your nostrils. Don’t try to change anything you notice. Accept it as it is. Give yourself a brief reminder to maintain perfect awareness and perfect equanimity or acceptance
