“Prosperity is measured not by how much you have, but by how little you need.”     -Dr. Steve Taubman

I’m always amazed by people who make lots of money and are still broke. You’d think at some point they’d realize that getting more won’t fill the gap between what they have and what they need. Acquisition for its own sake doesn’t work…and we can all be quite comfortable with far less than we have. Witness the Guatemalan villagers I meet on my journeys south. They make in a year what most of us make in a day, yet they’re FAR happier than almost any American I’ve ever met.

Imagine if what you had was enough. Imagine the inner peace. Here are three practical and immediately implementable strategies to get out of the Cycle of Not Enough.

  1. Realize that your sense of not enough is an illusion, and stop buying into it. See yourself as living in the flow of infinite abundance, and let go of fear.
  2. Become more generous. Start to loosen the grip you have on your money, and begin to make it into a tool of good for the world around you.
  3. Live within your means and learn to enjoy the art of economy. And, discover the freedom that comes from living without debt…a goal that’s often much easier to achieve than you might imagine.
