Last week, I posted a question to my Facebook followers. Which applications of mindfulness principles would you like me to address in future posts? Kay Mitchell (hi Kay) was kind enough to weigh in. She wanted to hear about how these principles apply at work.
So here goes…
Have you ever walked into a store or an office, and known INSTANTLY that you wanted to stay there, hang around, do business with them, and refer others?
Most of us can sense our environment. We can pick up remarkable amounts of information from intangible cues; we read the energy of the room.
Creating that kind of environment is one of the results of mindfulness practiced by members of a group. A room full of mindful people is a thing to behold.
Imagine being in an environment where EVERYBODY is happy, glad to be there, and committed to the transformation of everyone who enters that space.
Contributing to that kind of environment is vastly superior to just showing up.
We spend more than half our waking hours at work. Wouldn’t it be better if that time were filled with aliveness; free of stress, fear, conflict, and crisis? Wouldn’t it be better if we KNEW that our presence there made a difference; that we were actually working toward the empowerment of everyone we come across?
You probably know the story of the brick makers who were interviewed by a reporter. Most were working sloppily and begrudgingly; heads bowed, bodies slumped. When asked what they were doing, they said, “Making bricks.” One brick maker, however, was working with joy and reverence; whistling happily as he worked. When asked what he was doing, the brick maker beamed, “I’m building a cathedral!”
When you’re personally transformed and in touch with the big picture of what your work means, you’ll have boundless energy, freedom of spirit, and a level of effectiveness that you couldn’t ever have dreamed possible.
If you’re currently just existing at work and want to thrive…and perhaps even help awaken those around you, I’d like to help you. Schedule a discovery call with me so we can talk about upleveling your inner and outer experience on the job.
Let’s work together to help you live your life with passion and purpose!
