You’re probably going to fight me on this….
I’m talking about enlightenment and you’re asking about material success. Is there a disconnect? NO. Why? because everything that leads to enlightenment will also lead you to success, if that’s what you want. But you have to realize that you have a choice.
You can scramble for the big bucks and ignore your inner state. You’ll probably get at least some of the money before you finally figure out that money is an empty experience if it’s not accompanied by serenity and happiness.
Or you can go for the enlightenment and get the money as a by-product. Then you’re happy, successful, and fulfilled. It’s up to you.
Truly successful people realize that it’s an all or nothing proposition. Shoot for the bucks and you’ve got nothing. Shoot for the consciousness and you get it all…at least everything that really matters.
Here’s the rub. You think I’m saying, “Just be happy and life will be rosy!” You think I’m advocating laziness. NO. I’m saying you need to apply your efforts in an entirely different way. Not to acquisition on the outside but to a disciplined approach to your own mental growth.
There’s work to be done; just not the work you think. You need a guide into the world of higher consciousness; not the airy-fairy, hippy-dippy version, but REAL changes in your neurophysiological responses to stress and adversity.
When you “do the work” of mindfulness diligently and consistently (The Mindfulness Process), your mind evolves towards consciousness, your spirit lightens, and YOU CAN HAVE THE BUCKS TOO!
You just have to stop making that your primary goal and seek a worthier objective.
As the Buddha said, “If you go where few have gone, you will find what few have found.” Be different.
Don’t be boring!!!
…told you you’d fight me! 🙂
