Success Strategy For Home Based Business
Simplicity and order are key strategies to success.
Do you have any idea how much of an impact the clutter in your life is making on your home based business success? Although you probably don’t realize it, it’s profound.
I’ve noticed that when my home is clean, I sell more effectively. When my desk is clear, I’m more influential. When I pick up the junk on the floor of my car, I attract more opportunities.
The Successful Business Mind
The successful mind is focused and clear. It’s capable of single-minded purpose. Actions are effortless when your mind is a laser beam. You direct it toward your intended outcome and you achieve your goals. Keeping your mind in laser focus will leverage your home business successes to higher levels.
But when your mind’s attention is divided by extraneous issues, you are automatically less effective. And, interestingly, the things that are floating around in the “back of your mind”: the things you vaguely realize you need to do have the greatest impact on your effectiveness.
Home-Based Business Tips For Simplicity
Here are a few tips to creating simplicity and order in your home-based business as well as in your life: |
- Make a list of everything you need to do. We often resist this, thinking that if we looked at the totality of our incomplete tasks, we’d be overwhelmed. Not so. We’re actually more influenced in a negative way by the vague sense of impending doom from not seeing it all clearly before us.
- Ruthlessly eliminate anything you can; things that you’ve been putting off again and again. Maybe you made some commitments you’re sorry you made. This is a good time to renegotiate those agreements. Once you’ve let them go, they’re off your list and no longer taking up valuable real estate in your mind.
- Evaluate your lifestyle through the lens of an efficiency expert. What are you doing daily that you don’t need to be doing? What are you buying that’s just taking up space in your home or office? Start discovering how little you really need. I remember panicking once because I didn’t have shaving cream; only to discover that I didn’t need it. It turns out soap works just as well, and I never would have known that had I not tried it. What do you think you need? Are you willing to experiment with doing without it to see if that’s true?
- Create a schedule for the items on your list. Block out time on your calendar (You don’t have a calendar? Get one!!!) to clean your room, straighten your desk, file your paperwork, etc. Chunk it down to small items and assign a particular time to each.
- Use the “wash one dish” method for tackling overwhelming tasks. If your house is a mess and you can’t imagine expending the necessary energy, just commit to washing one dish. Your success at completing even the smallest task will snowball into greater energy and interest in taking on bigger and bigger ones, until you’ve tackled them all!
Once you create clarity through lists, prioritize your actions, eliminate the unnecessary, assign times to complete the necessary, and start with baby steps, you’ll begin to create a simpler, more orderly life…and you’ll find that you become infinitely more effective. You’ll also have less stress and more fun!
