Yesterday, I saw the movie, Hugo, for the second time; this time at home, without the benefit of 3D effects. Their absence didn’t diminish the impact in the least. In fact, the film hit me even harder the second time. If you haven’t seen it, you must. If you have and weren’t moved by it, skip the rest of this article…you won’t have the emotional depth to appreciate it.
Hugo is about a boy hurt, abandoned and wounded by circumstances…trapped in a mechanistic world without love. Staring out through the clockworks of his world, he can only watch the dance of relating from afar….sometimes amused, sometimes longing. But never participating.
In his quest to repair a machine left him by his tragically deceased father, he finds warmth and love, and he transforms the life of another wounded soul, essentially bringing him back to life.
The film is a work of art; a masterpiece filled with rich symbolism and vivid imagery. At the core of the message is the notion that the heart must be unlocked by love to release the trapped genius from the mechanical world in which it has become so lost.
From a combination of self-inquiry, research and many, many hours coaching others, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is exactly what happens. We have love, joy, inspiration and enthusiasm. We long to share them with others, but we’re trapped in the machine of our own wounded souls. We act mechanically and avoid taking chances…until our love, and with it our genius, are unlocked.
I’ve long believed that everyone has a gift waiting to be released…and that includes YOU. You’re an incredible and special person..and if you’ve come to feel enthusiasm for your business or any area of your life, you can be sure that that enthusiasm can be spread. In other words, there’s no reason to believe that what to you was exciting (like your business opportunity) will be to others an imposition.
Sure, some people may not want what you offer, but know that the odds are strongly in your favor. Unlock your heart, free your enthusiasm, and you’ll see how contagious it really is.
One of the lessons from Hugo is that machines come with no extra parts. Every part is necessary. And the universe is like one big machine. So, all the parts are important. All play a role. And you, being one of those parts have a vital role to play. Don’t bury your greatness under your fear, shame or sadness.Come out and play….and give what you were meant to give.
These were the thoughts that flooded through me watching Hugo; coincidentally the same thoughts which gave birth to UnHypnosis: How to Wake Up, Start Over and Create the Life You’re Meant to Live. I hope you’ll check them BOTH out!
