“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.”    -Nietzche

You walk the carnival midway, and with the encouragement of your friends, jump on a ride. At first, it’s fun, but soon it becomes scary and overwhelming. You want off, but you can’t disappoint others. So, you stay…maybe even ride again, though this time with misery.

You walk through your life, and with the encouragement of friends, take on projects. At first, they’re fun, but when the spin out of control, you suffer. You fear if you stop, you’ll disappoint someone; maybe yourself. So you stay.

When the ride gets scary or when the job loses its joy, get off! Make your life a carnival you’d like to go back to again and again…not a place you get trapped doing what you hate!

I had an interesting conversation with a woman in network marketing yesterday about her aversion to “closing the sale.” Nothing new. Lots of us have the issue. But something she said made a light go on in my head. I suddenly understood why so many people fear closing, and what they’re telling themselves that’s JUST PLAIN WRONG! If you get this distinction, you’ll be on the road to the cure for your close-o-phobia…so check this out now!
