Resolve To Do Something In Your Direct Selling Business Today!

How easy is it to let yet another business day slip by without taking action towards your direct selling business goals? And what are the consequences? There are things you could be doing; should be doing, yet you let another day slide on by without doing them. Why? business resolutions

I like the way Jeff Olsen puts it in The Slight Edge. These are things that are easy to do, but they’re also easy not to do. And as a result, we blow them off in favor of other things that are easy to do but more comfortable, familiar and fun. Given the choice of picking up the phone to plan a party or schedule an introduction and the choice of checking your email, you’ll probably opt to do the latter. Both are easy to do, but the second is also comfortable and familiar.

The challenge, according to Olsen, is that we act based on our preferences in each moment, not realizing that the choices we’re making make a difference. After all, you don’t notice the effect of not picking up the phone instantly. You may never notice it. It’s like eating that ice cream cone vs. the salad. You don’t notice the effect of the cone in the moment, plus it’s a more pleasant choice.

But over time, the effect of those choices adds up. Every moment is a choice point that leads you either closer to or further from your goals. How do you make the right choice; the one that eventually produces the desired results?

First, acknowledge and realize that your current choices are actually having an effect, even if unseen at the moment. Second, know that if your default mode is to do what you feel like doing in the moment, you’ll never succeed. Third, make a commitment to the right choices, knowing that you’ll be hearing a voice inside your head next time you have to honor that commitment saying it doesn’t matter. And finally learn to be uncomfortable.

Making the right choice will cause inner feelings of resentment as you try to stubbornly cling to the easy choice. If you can let yourself feel those feelings and manage them properly, you’ll be free to move your direct selling business in the direction of your dreams.

Through a system of mindfulness practices, you can learn to become impervious to the voices of self sabotage that keep you from success. Learn to master those tools, and you’ll have unlimited power to succeed!
